Tenants must pay for gas and electric and cable service (if desired).

Gas:  The current budget amount for a typical unit is $38.00 per month.  With energy costs continuing to escalate, this amount is bound to go up, so budget accordingly.  There is only one gas appliance in the unit and that is the furnace.  During heating season always keep the thermostat set at the minimum comfortable temperature (68 degrees is recommended).  Your gas usage will be high in the winter months and almost nothing in the summer months.  The gas company charges a small fee every month just to maintain the hookup.

Electric:  The current budget amount for a typical unit is $47.00 per month.  With energy costs continuing to escalate, this amount is bound to go up, so budget accordingly.  Electric usage is fairly constant all year except for the air conditioner.  Air conditioners use large amounts of electricity, so only use it when you have to, and turn it off when you leave.  All units are equipped with ceiling fans in the dining area.  These fans use very little electricity and provide good air movement in the living areas, which reduces the need to run the air conditioner.

Cable:  All units are pre-wired for cable service.  There is an outlet in the living room, and one in each bedroom.  Time Warner Cable is the provider of choice in Kent for cable TV and Internet Service. Call Time Warner Cable at 1-877-772-2253 to inquire about current rates and promotions.
